Whiskeytown Regatta May 24-25, 2008

Regatta Registration    *Note: Racing barge clock set to Standard Pacific time.
 

Registration forms must be received on or before May 19, 2008 to avoid a $10 late registration fee.  There will be a $5 discount for US Sailing Members.  Registration will be open at the Regatta on Friday evening May 23, and in the morning until 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 24.

Note:   Classes will be determined by number of boats in each class prior to May 19th.
 

Trophies will be awarded as follows:

·        18+                        5

*Less than four boats in one class will sail in the Open Handicap Class.  Portsmouth yardstick will be used to calculate corrected times.

 

Schedule of Events:

            Friday, May 23rd:

·        Tent camping and RV parking open at 12:00 noon.

·        Regatta Art and Parts Swap set up: 12 noon-May 24 on.

·        Open registration at Regatta headquarters 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

·        Practice Race at 6 p.m. Standard Pacific time.

Saturday, May 24th:

·        Open registration 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

·        Skippers meeting 9:30 a.m. at Regatta headquarters.

·        First shape at 11 a.m. with classes starting every five minutes.

·        Second race will follow when a class representative hails the barge.  *Note: there is a separate starting and finish barge*

·        Third race if desired / no races will be started after 4 p.m.

·        Dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. near Regatta headquarters.

·        Entertainment [Whiskeytown Idol] and raffle will begin at 7 p.m.

·        Light Parade will begin at 9 p.m.

Sunday, May 25th:

·        First shape 9:30 a.m.

·        Second race will follow when class representative hails barge.

·        No races will be started after 2:30 p.m.

·        Awards ceremony tentatively scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

Monday, May 26th:

·        Regatta Art and Parts Swap can continue until 4 p.m.

 

 


Regatta Participant Camping
 

Campground regulations will be provided at Regatta registration.
 

Regatta Participants are required to pay a $5 per day vehicle use fee (i.e., parking) during the Whiskeytown Regatta activities period.  Use fees may be paid at the Visitor Center at the lake entrance or at payment centers located near lunch ramps and throughout the recreation area.  Use permits must be displayed in the windshield of all vehicles.
 

Bandy Creek Marina Parking Lot RV Camping is allowed only in the last three rows on the south end of the parking lot.  RV camping can start at 12 o'clock noon on May 23 on a first-come first-served basis, continuing until 12 o'clock noon on May 26th.  All RV units must capture their own gray water.  No open fires or tents will be allowed in this area.  Do not park outside of the white lines.
 

Tent Camping is allowed at the Dry Creek Group Campground to Regatta participants only.  No additional fee is required and is open from 12 o'clock noon on May 23 on a first-come first-served basis, until 12 o'clock noon on May 26th.  This is a primitive type camping area located one half mile beyond the Brandy Creek Marina turn off.  Vehicles are prohibited in this area except for drop-off and pickup.  Vehicles must park in designated parking areas outside of the camping area.  Camping area access roads must be left open for official use at all times.  This is Bear Country so store food safely.  Fires are permitted in designated fire pits only.  Campers must bring their own firewood.
 

Brandy Creek RV Camping Area.  RV Units may also camp at Brandy Creek RV Campground located 500 yards south of the Brandy Creek parking lot.  There are no hookups in this area.  The camping fee for this area must be paid by all individual campers at the payment area located near the launch ramp or at the Visitor Center near the entrance of the lake.  A camping receipt must be placed conspicuously near the windshield of the vehicle.  No open fires are allowed in this area.  All RVs must capture their own gray water.  This area will remain open to the general public on a first-come first-serve basis throughout the entire Regatta.  Please note: all boats and boat trailers must be parked in the Brandy Creek Marina parking lot during your stay.
 

Oak Bottom Campground is a concessionaire operated Campground with both tent and RV spaces.  Reservations must be made through the National Park Reservation Service by calling 1 (800) 365-CAMP.  Reservations can also be made at the Web site: www.reservations.nps.gov  and hotels are also available in Redding at a variety of prices.
 

Note: quiet times in all campgrounds must be observed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.

I certify that the model/design herein is valid and the boat measures correctly for its declared class type and that I will sail in conformity to the rating given.  I agree to be bound by the Rules of Sailing 2005-2008 edition, the prescriptions of the United States Sailing Association, the rules of the fleet entered, and the rules and regulations of the Whiskeytown Sailing Club which include the sailing instructions of the Whiskeytown Regatta.  I acknowledge that I am entering this race at my own risk and that it is my sole and exclusive responsibility to decide whether or not to participate and/or continue in all or any of the races.  By signing below I certify and agree to waive any liability claims towards the organizers of the Whiskeytown Regatta, the Whiskeytown Sailing Club members, and the National Park Service for damage and/or injury caused by my boat and/or crew during the entire Regatta.  By signing below I also certify that my boat is seaworthy, has appropriate safety gear and lifejackets for everyone on board, and will not sail in a manner that endangers anyone.  In short, by signing below I release all claims of liability towards anyone associated with the Whiskeytown Regatta, and have appropriate vessel insurance.
